Lily: Mama, I like you! I like Dada, Emma, and Johnny. And Legos. I LOVE Legos!

After being given two gummy bears as a reward:
Lily: But Mama! I wanted ONE gummy bear!
Mama: Oh, ok. Do you want to give the other one back?
Lily. Yes!
She returned the other gummy bear.

Lily, after a long monologue about polar bears, aliens, and other random topics:
And I have a mouth. Because I talk.

Overheard during a game:
Johnny: Do you want to go on a space ship?
Emma: Yes!
Johnny: Okay, then I have to get my foot phone (holds foot to ear) Hello?

  1. Every time you post your kids comments, I think that I am going to start recording the adorable things my kids do….if I keep procrastinating they will be married by the time I start! Thanks for the great example!

  2. My favorite hands down is Lily, ‘because I have a mouth’. She is too smart, Mary Anne! Your kids are the best!

I remember when Joe used to make those duplo word scenes. He actually has a small Lego one in his room now that is a ‘name plate’ on the top of his bookshelf.

I hope you are having a good week. I just think you are the best, Mary Anne!

    1. He had me laughing all night over that one! I still grin every time I think about it. Kids are wonderful!

  3. How wonderful. Every so often I try to write down all the questions and comments that come my way and I haven’t done it in ages. You have given me just the motivation that I needed! I wonder if we have a foot phone around here?

  4. So funny that Lily only wanted ONE gummy bear. :-) I love the picture–in all the many years I spent playing with Duplos, I never thought of making words out of them.

  5. I think Lily is the only two year old who does not have a monotonically increasing utility function with respect to gummy bears.
