I love toys, particularly quality toys that inspire creative play. I was intrigued when I came across an image of Tegu blocks, so I looked into their company. I was impressed by what I read, and wrote to let them know! It is rare to find a company that offers an ecologically friendly, innovatively creative product while paying a fair wage!
Tegu blocks are made from responsibly sourced hardwoods. Magnets are embedded into each block, the blocks are put back together with a barely-visible seam (look very closely and you’ll see it in the top block in the photo below), and each block is covered with a non-toxic, water-based finish. Tegu kindly sent us this cute little pouch with eight blocks, which the kids were thrilled to put to use:
The magnets create new opportunities and challenges in building, as my kids discovered:
Johnny enjoyed playing with them on our dishwasher:
And Emma thought the way the blocks acted when she tried to put them together with the wrong polarity was absolutely hilarious:
I would love to see what my kids can make with a larger set! These blocks are definitely an investment (the eight-piece set we received retails for $32), but their quality is impeccable, and I’ve been impressed with what my kids can make with a single, eight-block set. I also love that the pouch keeps the blocks contained, making it perfect for car travel. If you are willing and able to pay for quality, ethics, and innovation, this is a toy to consider!

What a cool toy! I love wood and also love magnetic toys, but don’t see the two combined very often!

We received some tegu blocks as a gift. We haven’t played with them in a while, but you have inspired us to bring them out again.
