 I’ve always wanted to visit Canada, especially since we moved to Massachusetts and I realized Montreal was only a 5-6 hour drive from our home. A gorgeously scenic drive, at that! It was fantastic to see the Montreal skyline as we crossed a bridge into the city! I’ve already written about [...] On our way home, we stopped in at the Vermont Toy Museum in Quechee Gorge Village. I really wanted to take Johnny to the train museum, but it seemed to be closed due to pouring rain. Emma and Johnny were most enthralled by the toy robots! Lily was all about the baby dolls. [...] This week was awesome!!! I love to travel, and I love to go overseas. Having spent most of my formative years (age 7 to 18) overseas, in some ways it is more familiar to be abroad than at home. Montreal was especially fun, since it is a French-speaking city. It was nice for the [...] Traveling anywhere with kids can be hard; they tire easily and they often become irritable when their established routine is broken. And yet, you don’t want to deny your kids the chance to see some of the most amazing places on Earth and experience new people and cultures along the way. Exposing them to [...] Riding in style in Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage Mike took a Friday afternoon off work, and we made the three-hour drive up to Story Land. We got a hotel courtesy of Mike’s business travel hotel points, and had a great time Saturday as well before driving home at closing on Saturday. The kids had [...] We have travelled a lot this past year, but this last trip was my most parenting-intensive attempt thus far. My brother B. AND sister E. flew out with us, E. flew back with us, and I had quite a bit of help from family while we were there. But the critical ingredient – Mike [...] The kids and I enjoyed a nice change of pace during our trip by attending the Free Third Saturday craft at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. My three jetlagged children fell asleep in the car, which at least partially explains their less-than-jovial greeting of the ever-so-much-friendlier Infant Bibliophile (who we met up with, [...] Thank you for all of your kind comments on my post about my grandfather. The kids and I arrived safely in Utah, and we are enjoying time with family. I especially enjoyed taking them over to the park by my grandparents’ house this evening, watching them run boat races in the stream and feed [...] I was really excited to go on a business trip to Berlin last week, though I missed MaryAnne and the kids terribly. I knew that the kids would be doing a lot of fun activities while I was gone, like usual, and it was fun to read MaryAnne’s blog posts while I was gone. When [...] I had a really great time with my sister, K! She lives on a ranch, and I got to watch her ride this horse: He was one STUBBORN animal, who didn’t want to be ridden, and he gave her a very hard time. Which was too bad, because she’s very good at riding horses, [...] |
