 Emma made this adorable duck collage after perusing the (fun!!!) projects in The Fantastic Rainy Day Book, which we checked out of the library. There is a duck collage in the book, which is what gave her the idea, but she took it and ran, turning it into a very cute and unique [...] The kids used some of their free time over their winter break to tinker. Inspired by the movie Tinker Bell, which they saw during the break for the first time, they went outdoors to gather their materials. Some of their materials turned out to be a bit too large to bring inside, [...] Emma received a copy of 100+ No-Sew Fabric Crafts for Kids as a Christmas gift from my parents. It has been a great gift for my crafty nearly-six-year-old! Isn’t this little elephant cute? She loves to thumb through the pages to find the perfect project, trace the patterns, and create the final product. [...] Mike made this cute paper shuttle with the kids over New Years’. They rolled a sheet of paper for the body, traced a saucer to make the cone (you only need a quarter circle to make a cone, but they used the full circle and doubled over), and cut small triangles for the base. [...] I’ve learned a few things through decades of gingerbread house decorating! Here are some favorite tips and tricks: Only make it from scratch if you will truly enjoy that part of the process! I’ve made gingerbread houses from scratch before, even with kids, but have since decided that kits are the way to go [...] So far this year, I’ve made a few favorite Christmas crafts with the kids, but I haven’t introduced any new ideas. They, however, have been hard at work – decorating, cutting, and taping. I love it! Most of what they make doesn’t look anything like a “standard” Christmas craft – one day last week, [...] This week we spent a lot of time painting! And drawing. I was especially impressed by this face that Johnny drew all by himself: Actually, I think he drew it two weeks ago. A couple of these pictures maybe should have been in last week’s post. Either way, I love how expressive it [...] My kids have been thoroughly enjoying all the cards they have received through The Toybox Years Kiddie Christmas Card Exchange. They have been hard at work making cards to send off, which I have to finish mailing by the end of the day today! It’s fun to see all the different cards they receive, [...] Johnny was super proud to bring home this bird feeder from preschool this week! So far the birds aren’t too interested in it, though. Maybe the bell scares them? I’ve also wondered how easy it is for birds to even eat cheerio bird feeders – they are very fun to make, but have any [...] I’ve wanted to make this tree ever since I saw the giant Thankful Tree Sherri made with her kids at Families are Fun! Emma saw their tree, and kept on asking until we got it done! Our tree isn’t nearly as elegant, but the kids really enjoyed putting it together and decorating the [...] |
