These flowers grow along one side of our yard. They need to be thinned out and I never get around to it. Maybe that’s just as well, because this way the kids can pick as many as they like.
It’s become a summer ritual: eat dinner at the picnic table outside, then run and pick flowers!
I thought it would be cute to get a “sweet” photo of all three kids holding flowers. Six-year-old Emma was on board. Two-year-old Lily was willing to put up with the idea. Four-year-old Johnny thought it would be more fun to be funny.
Lily agreed.
And, ultimately, Emma decided that, if you can’t beat ‘em, you may as well join ‘em:
I love my three silly kids! We are thoroughly enjoying our summer break from school and running around!!!
How is your summer, so far?

How fun! I spent summers at my grandparents and they had flowers growing everywhere. I still remember picking flowers just about everyday.

that top picture is just stunning!! picking flowers is such fun… i love that it gets children outdoors and also teaches some compassion as they can see the response that the receiver of their bouquet has.

I love how you let your kids pick flowers from your yard. My daughter enjoys doing that too. I have a four year old too who enjoys being silly for the photo. The only way I can get her to take a posed photo is to tell her to do the opposite of what I want her to do. LOL! That first picture of the three kids is classic. LOVE!

I love that first picture! I’d love to say I need to thin out flowers, but I think what I really need to thin out are weeds.

It’s wonderful and overwhelming when see our kids filled with joy. Even simple stuff like this already make them happy. Sometimes it’s the simplest moment that counts.
