Spring Flower Craft for Kids

These spring flowers make a cute craft for kids! Emma thought they were so pretty that they should smell good – I think she was a little disappointed when they only smelled like cupcake liners (which smell like paper).

They are very simple to make – combine a bunch of cupcake liners, fold them in half, punch two holes through, and thread through the pipe cleaner. You can do the same thing with tissue paper, but it’s a little more work (I should know; I made over 200 of the tissue paper flowers as a prop for a play in high school. Still not convinced that prop was worth the effort, especially since it was on stage for maybe five minutes, but Mr M. was an incredible director and you just did what he said!)

craft time silliness

Lily thought my looped stem doubled beautifully as silly glasses. I love that my kids have a sense of humor!

Emma used some extra pipe cleaners to improvise this flower:

Her creation is entirely original, but it reminded me of the pipe cleaner flowers I used to make her when she was a toddler. Time to make some of those with Lily!

  1. What a perfect craft for Emma and Lily. Those flowers do look gorgeous. I cannot imagine making 200 tissue flowers!

    1. Made them with another girl – probably cemented our friendship, which still lasts today, so I should be grateful :)
