I love watermelon, especially now that I found this super-quick way to slice it! I got the idea from another blog, but can’t remember where – comment with the link if you know where, please? I think my technique is a little different from theirs, but since I couldn’t find the post I don’t know for certain.
I slice the melon in half, then cut it into 4-inch slices. I sliced those in half and then sliced lines across – as in the photo above. The bottom of the melon is still round (if I turned the melon sideways it would be a half circle).
Then I slice the other direction, cutting clear through the rind in the middle (see the deepest cut above) to create a quarter-circle.
Turn the quarter circle so the melon fruit is lying flat on the cutting board, and slice diagonally to create small diamond-shaped pieces. This even works with the rounded top and bottom, although it gets a little more fiddly to slice.

excellent!

Thanks for the tip, I so need all the help I can get in the kitchen. Got any tips for cutting pineapple? That always stumps me and a lot goes to waste.
