Fun With Paints

Johnny paints in a hand-drawn penguin

Sometimes all you need to spark your child’s creativity is to mix things up a little. We paint a lot, but switching things up just a tiny bit makes an old favorite new again. Johnny was thrilled to fill in this penguin outline that I drew for him (it sort of looks like a penguin, at least…)

Emma experiments with paint on black paper

Emma and Lily got black paper to paint on, and they loved the vibrancy of the colors against the black background!

And this is an old post that got lost in my drafts folder! Check out our old tan-and-black floors that I don’t miss at all. And Lily looks so little with her short hair and chubbier cheeks!

  1. Changing things up is fun. You should have seen how much fun the kids had this week using watercolor pencils instead of markers……

  2. I always find it hard to find time for painting, but usually we have a great time when we paint. Emma looks like she is focusing hard!

  3. So glad you don’t miss those old floors! :) The paint looks great against the black paper. What type of paint do you use?

    1. We use Crayola washable paint – it’s come out of everything so far, and I love that I don’t have to stress about ruining clothes. The colors and textures are nice, too.
