I was delighted to hear that Jan Brett was the December Author for the Virtual Book Club for Kids. We adore Jan Brett! Here are a couple winter-themed favorites of ours, along with activities from this blog you can use to accompany them!
Christmas Trolls is a delightful story about two little trolls who just want to celebrate Christmas. This book is the perfect read to go along with my ornaments to color and sew post.
Make some fleece bears using white fleece to go along with The Three Snow Bears – an Inuit retelling of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story! Or keep the bears brown, to go along with Jan Brett’s more classic version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, or Berlioz the Bear. If your child is old enough to sew, you can cut the bears out of felt and they can sew them themselves! For a no-sew activity, try our felt dress-up bears!

We read quite a few Brett books in December, but I didn’t master my energy for any activities. By the way, the linky doesn’t show up in your post for some reason…

Thanks for letting me know, Natalie! I must have accidentally deleted it somehow – it was there originallly. I’ve put it back in.

We love Jan Brett too! Mama read me The Mitten when I was a child. Just a few days ago, she was reading the Christmas books and our newest: Gingerbread Friends, to her grandbabies!
