Discover the Joy of Cooking with HelloFresh

If you could hire just one person to help out with any job around the house, what would it be?

I wouldn’t mind having someone to help clean the house, but my top pick (assuming money were no object) would actually be a private chef! With an unlimited grocery budget to make delicious, varied, healthy meals – meals that all of my children would magically love. And to make sure the dishes get washed up afterwards.

Lovely and entirely unrealistic, on our budget. Giving HelloFresh meals a go was a fun next-best experience! This East Coast based company provides a subscription service where they mail out ingredients and recipe cards for set meals that you can easily prepare.

HelloFresh sent us all of the ingredients (minus olive oil, which we always have on hand for general cooking) for three meals: Turkey Polpette, Beef & Broccoli Rabe, and Salmon with Cashew Crust, as well as step-by-step recipe cards with all the instructions you need to create each dish. All of the ingredients were very fresh and high quality – they made the house smell incredible!

I think that HelloFresh is a great idea for someone who is interested in cooking with high quality, fresh ingredients and wants to expand their cooking repertoire, but doesn’t have a lot of time to research menus and buy groceries. It could also be a fun way to get kids interested in a wide variety of foods, since it’s pretty exciting to get a box of ingredients in the mail!

Mike has been working on his cooking skills this year, so he decided to give the salmon dish a try. Doesn’t it look amazing?

Maybe I don’t need that private chef after all!

Looks terrific!! I’m thoroughly enjoying the time that my mum is here cooking and washing up. Ben does the meal planning, and I just homeschool. :) :)

A resource I love for easy healthy meals is the Mama and Baby Love Slow Cooker Freezer Cookbook. You batch process the ingredients into gallon Ziploc bags, then freeze them until the day you want that meal for dinner. Pop the frozen brick in the slow cooker and dinner is done!

  2. I agree with you on the personal chef option. You don’t have to think when you clean your house, but healthy meal planning is haaaaaaard. These look amazing!

  3. I’m going to check that out. This seems like a very organized plan of attack for dinner. I love to cook, but it’s difficult to do much during the kids’ crabby time, starting around 4:30 each evening. ;)

  4. Wow – that salmon looks amazing. Cooking healthy meals is pretty easy here because almost everything needs to be made from scratch but finding a variety can be hard for us. I would love to have a private chef!

  5. I would (and did) choose a cleaning help, but having someone giving me all the ingredients for healthy and yummy meals would be great :)

  6. Interesting service.

I do my best to get the kids involved in helping prepare meals, but it doesn’t always happen.

I would love to have someone scrub floors and wash windows; those are my two least favorite chores that don’t get done as often as they should. I actually LOVE researching recipes and preparing meals!
