As a parent, you always worry – and there is so much to worry about! With four children to look after, I compensate for my anxiety prone parenting personality in two ways: by doing my best to make the most of every moment and by doing my best to give my children a safe environment. I want to give them a lifestyle that will keep them safe as they make the most of opportunities that life sends their way.

I have very fond memories of my childhood car seat – I actually remember crying when I outgrew it! It was wonderfully plush, and every time I got in the car I could fall right asleep. I hadn’t found a car seat that reminded me of it, until we were sent the Britax Advocate 70-G3. This is a plush seat – and undoubtedly much safer than the one I enjoyed riding in as a child! It is also designed so that Anna should be able to ride rear-facing comfortably at least until her second birthday, which is important to me!

Here are a few of my favorite safety features:

Side Impact Protection. This seat has the most serious side impact protection I have seen in a car seat. These energy-absorbing cushions are designed to reduce side impact energy by diverting 45 percent of the crash forces away from the seated child. They also provide extra protection for a passenger seated next to the child.

My first child was born in the UK, and I was a little disappointed when I returned to the US to see that side impact safety isn’t emphasized on this side of the pond. Britax makes up for that by simulating side impact crashes based on proven European test methods. Hooray for a company that goes above and beyond for safety!

Click Safe. Parents are told that it is critically important to make sure children are properly strapped into car seats, but I find it really hard to get the strap tightness just right! Sometimes my kids end up with straps that are too tight (and therefore uncomfortable), and sometimes they have been too loose (and unsafe!) Click Safe takes the guesswork out of strap adjustment – pull until you hear the click, and you know the tightness is perfect. You can also change the height of the shoulder straps without having to rethread the straps. Britax has thought about everything when it comes to keeping kids safe and comfortable!
