Books for Toddlers and THE Parenting Book to Read

My two-year-old daughter, Lily, ADORES books. More than any of my other kids. Thanks to her passion, we average twenty books a day. Some she loves and I don’t (scary poisonous creature books and snake books? Why???). Here are a couple we BOTH enjoy – over and over!

I found Red Sled through this list at Brimful Curiosities. Lily LOVES it, and so do I. The onomatopoeic text gets her paying special attention to the way words sound, the story and illustrations are adorable, and the plot keeps you guessing – with a fun surprise ending! We have probably read this book thirty times in the past two weeks, and I still like it!

I love wordless picture books, and Where’s Walrus? (recommended by Storied Cities) did not disappoint! A walrus escapes from the zoo for an adventure that will change his life forever!

I read a lot of parenting books. I skim-read even more. The Power of Validation (brand new – came out at the end of 2011!) is the first I’ve read in a LONG time that gave me some new ideas! I want to raise kids who know who they are, understand what is important, and have the confidence they need to carefully evaluate situations and decisions. And I think this book will help me accomplish that.
