The kids have been enjoying a very special visit from one of our good friends from Massachusetts – Flat Stanley style! Their good friend Aidan read Flat Stanley (affiliate link) with his second grade class, and made a Flat Aidan who came to visit us!
The kids really miss Aidan and their other friends, and they were excited to have visit of sorts! He joined Johnny and Emma in their favorite activities – reading for Emma and playing with LEGO bricks for Johnny.
Emma made a nice bed for flat Aidan to sleep in using the patchwork doll quilt that we made last year:
We even took Aidan along on our after dinner walks!
We have to send Flat Aidan home now, but the kids sure enjoyed his visit! Hopefully the real Aidan can visit us next time – or we will be able to take the kids back to Massachusetts for a visit!

How was your afterschooling week? Please share you elementary school aged activities in the linky below (by doing so you are giving the linky hosts permission to feature your post and to pin it to our After School Activities board on Pinterest). I really enjoyed this building with paper engineering challenge that was linked up by Deceptively Educational last week!

Oh, what a sweet visit. The visit from a “friend” made me smile.
We’ve done a couple of Flat Stanley visits, and they’re always lots of fun!
I really appreciated that this version only required one stop – some of them have gotten very complex!
Sounds like Flat Stanley had a lovely visit at your house. He might not ever want to leave!!!
He did stay a little longer than he was supposed to…
What a thoughtful and fun idea!!! Great photos, too! :)
Thanks, Elisa! We had a lot of fun with this!
How fun that your kids got to host a Flat Stanley. I love the picture with Johnny. Hopefully they will get to see their friends soon!
I hope so, too!
We did something like this too, when I was in school. We sent “Flat Emma” to my aunt, who took pictures of it riding around in a toy car and even with some chocolate on its face! lol!
Looks like some grand adventures! :)
Thanks for helping us with this project, Mary Anne! Looks like “Flat Aidan” had a great time! Also wish it was us in the flesh instead of a paper version. :)
That would be nice! The kids and I enjoyed this. We miss you and your family!
Aw so sweet your kiddos brought him along for the family activities :)
Love flat Stanley , have just brought the book to read to my 4month old son :)
