I’ve made file folder travel felt boards in the past, but for our most recent road trip I wanted a felt board that could take a beating. My very first blog post was a tutorial on how to use a foam core board to make a flannel/felt board. That foam core board is [...] I had plans for a fantastic Filth Wizardry rocket ship when this huge box showed up at our front door (housing my brother’s cello). My kids loved the idea, but not my design. Here is their version of a rocket ship. Eventually they tore down the side walls even, and [...]
I used the owie doll sleeping bags as a model for these slimmer Barbie doll sleeping bags, substituting flannel for one layer of fleece since the bag is smaller and therefore would be too bulky with two layers of fleece. We sent one off as a blog swap, and the other one has been hidden [...] Emma made this fairy village from sticks, flowers, stones, and leaves that she found around our yard. Doesn’t Lily look pleased with herself? I’m happy with Lily’s cake because of the process, not the product (there’s a reason this post doesn’t start with a cake photo!) All three kids helped every step of the way, and they were thrilled with their result. We all had fun, and Emma proved herself an expert [...] We swap babysitting with friends about one Saturday every other month. Mike helped the kids build and fly airplanes last time. I had this activity on our to-try list last year, but Massachusetts never got very hot. This summer has been plenty hot, so I thought we’d give it a try. We cut the tops off of some plastic cups, added pieces of crayons, put everything in some left over aluminum foil. We covered it with [...] Last Monday I sent out emails to several mom friends inviting them to an impromptu play dough party at our house on Saturday. A bunch of Emma’s friends showed up, and we made three different colors of play dough using this recipe. We skipped the stovetop part, though, using boiling water instead followed by 30 [...] |
