Learning Laboratory: Safety

Johnny and Emma work on strapping Lily into her car seat

After years for my dreams of a minivan being thwarted by a burning refrigerator, dying heating system, and other issues, we finally got one this month! I love having SPACE for three car seats, and Lily got a new car seat in honor of the occasion (her old one is still in Mike’s car). Having the car seat in the house was a great opportunity to talk about why kids ride in car seats, and Emma and Johnny enjoyed helping Lily get buckled in safely!

The kids got a second safety lesson when our police station had an open day. They toured the entire station and were fitted with bike helmets, which they got to bring home for free!

  4. Congrats on getting the minivan… I love ours and am glad we have one to fit all the carseats and extras. Those photos are wonderful and what a great idea about the carseat and safety lesson.

  5. Congratulations on your new car! We keep teasing our expecting friends about how they are going to trade their “practical” mini-Cooper soon :) Lily looks very pleased with her seat!

  6. Yay for the minivan! I would love to have two vehicles that seat our entire family. Some day…..
And yay for the free bike helmets. What a great program.

  8. Congratulations! We love ours. It kinda became neccessary when the twins were born because the car seats barely fit in my car.
