spring buds on our japanese maple

These tiny buds on our Japanese Maple were the first sign of new spring life in our back yard. We plan to chronicle the emergence of the new spring leaves on this tree in pictures and by pressing the leaves as they grow larger over the next two or three weeks. We already talked about how the tree was asleep (dormant) during the winter – just as bears hibernate – and how the tiny buds on the branches were the first sign of the tree waking up for the warmer weather.
